Let there be light

And on the seventh day, a higher power said, “Let there be more light at day’s end.”

So the people complied, dutifully moving their clocks one hour ahead.

And it was good…until the people tried to fall asleep that night.
And tried to wake up the next morning and the morning after that.

The people became grumpy and drank too much coffee.
Coffee businesses offered specials and business was good.

The people dealt with unruly, tired youth who absorbed the extra morning darkness and spewed it back in bitter complaints about school, orchestra, jazz band, soccer and life in general.

Finally, the people said, “Enough!” and scheduled a nationwide election.

A new higher power would be elected, and the people would hope for the best...
