A Simple Request

Dear Uncle Sam,

All things considered, I’m handling my husband’s absence well. I’m sure there’s wisdom in his continued TDY—I fail to see what it is, but I lack your administrative experience.

I do have a small request… If you have any TDY employees in my area, I need help with a few mechanical issues.

I think I have the new tire problem figured out, but my refrigerator began spewing water last night. I had the presence of mind to turn off the valve…unfortunately, I didn’t realize the water lines would bleed periodically for hours... After the wood floor dries, I’ll find an attractive area rug to cover the damage.

Anyway, I need a little help moving the frig and determining the problem. I'd call a frig tech., but it seems illogical when my husband could fix the frig if he was here…

So, please check your records, I’m sure there’s someone locally with free time this afternoon. Maybe my husband could even help a few stranded wives in his area—would you check their references first? If they seem too lonely, please send someone else’s husband.

Can’t think of anything else at the moment, but I’ll keep you posted. Bad luck comes in threes—something else should go wrong within the next 48 hours. You might want to rethink some of your foreign policy issues too…just a suggestion.
