Public character

When you let your guard down, saying what you feel…isn’t that the real you? I’m curious, because I continue reading about politicians and celebrities unwittingly speaking during interview breaks. Can’t we assume that statements made during off-camera moments are true to a person’s character? Everyone smiles for the camera, literally and physically …pictures often don’t tell the whole story.

It’s interesting, reading or hearing detailed apologies regarding inappropriate statements. Apologies meant to touch our hearts, replacing memories of less appealing words. However, planned apologies are rehearsed and often composed by well-versed speech writers…obviously, they don’t tell the whole story either.

I’m inclined to go with the ill-timed, emotion-based statements when determining a public person’s character. I think what we do or say when our guard is down, does tell the whole story most of the time. Having said that, I hope I don’t drop my guard too often, revealing the flaws in my character!

Aren't we lucky we don't have to publicly apologise for everything we say! Wow, that must be alot of pressure. I wish once someone would just say, I'm not going to apologize, I said it. Or just let it go with out saying anything at all.
