Hot August days...

Another incredible sunset tonight, although last night’s took my breath away. What an amazing combo field burning and excruciating heat create—together, they produce concentrated atmospheric particulates. What better substrate to reflect and enhance the sun’s setting rays?

Who cares if local residents can’t breathe effectively and anger management issues escalate faster than rising thermometers? Damn, the sunset was beautiful, and anyone who feels otherwise will damn well answer to me.

Realistically, I know we’re not the only ones stifling in our homes…but this is Oregon, not some Midwestern state that thrives on heat and humidity. We pay our dues in rain drops and mud pies—summers are supposed to be a reprieve from Mother Nature’s ire.

Thank goodness tomorrow is our last day of sauna torture. A. and M. have been put through the ringer during soccer practices and games this week. It’s not easy watching your children wage physical war in 104 degrees…have I mentioned that coaches frown on parent participation during soccer games?

A. has one more game tomorrow, and woohoo, 95 degrees is the predicted high temp. He's participating in a weekend, high-school tournament, mainly to impress coaches looking to pad their varsity teams. This is one of those moments when parenthood and reality collide—we all believe in our children's incredible talents…however, the outside world forms its own opinions…our feelings be damned…

Speaking of which, I obviously have no real point as I type this post, other than sharing my feelings regarding heat, smog, and parental limitations. Damn, I wish my words were more profound, but considering the local heat and pollution, you're lucky I'm capable of more than babblese...

Stay cool, coherent and off the soccer field--coaches respect that...trust me...
